Canyoning Stag Do in Sofia
Canyoning
Canyoning means abseiling down waterfalls and throwing yourself off cliffs into mountain pools, so it sorts out fast whose extreme sports stories were true. The canyons in Bulgaria are stunning, which at least gives you something to look at while one of your mates stands on the edge of the first jump for a very, very long time, rethinking most of his life choices.

Why canyoning works on a stag do
Canyoning is about as big as adventure sport gets: technical skills, finding your way through wild country and real adrenaline, all testing your nerve in spectacular surroundings.
The guides keep it safe while wringing every bit of adventure out of the day, teaching the skills for a safe descent and handling the group, including anyone whose nerve goes.
Bulgaria's mountain canyons are playgrounds built by nature, packed with natural slides, waterfalls, pools to swim in and cliff jumps, a mix no artificial venue could ever copy.
For a stag, the draw is going through something genuinely extreme together. Helping each other through proper challenges bonds a group, and pressure shows what each lad is made of.
Between the technical skills, the scenery and the adrenaline, it covers everything a thrill-seeker wants, and you come away with a real sense of achievement.

Canyoning FAQs
Everything the group chat keeps asking, answered.
1. Is canyoning dangerous?
With a professional guide, the right kit and proper training, it's very safe. The mental challenge is far bigger than the physical danger when certified operators run it.
2. Do you need abseiling or climbing experience for canyoning?
No. The guides teach every technical skill you need, and complete beginners can take part safely with their guidance and the proper kit.
3. How fit do you need to be for canyoning?
Good basic fitness is essential. You'll spend hours climbing, jumping, swimming and working through technical sections, which is tougher than most things you'd do outdoors.
4. What if someone is too scared to jump or abseil?
The guides work to each person's comfort level. That might mean another route, an easier version of the challenge or some encouragement to help a nervous lad through it safely.
5. Is the water cold when canyoning?
Yes. Mountain canyon water tends to be cold whatever the season. Wetsuits are provided, but it will still be properly chilly, which is all part of the challenge.
6. What skills do you learn canyoning?
Abseiling technique, handling ropes, judging a jump, staying safe in water, reading a canyon and what to do in an emergency. All of it is useful outdoors.
7. How long does a canyoning trip take?
A full day, normally 8–10 hours, covering transport, the hike in, instruction, the descent itself and the trip back.
8. Can you go canyoning in bad weather?
Weather has a big effect on safety in a canyon. Storms, heavy rain or flooding mean the trip is called off, as the operators put safety ahead of keeping to schedule.
9. What if you get hurt canyoning?
The guides are trained for rescues and carry emergency kit. There are other ways out of the canyon and evacuation plans in place, so everyone stays safe all day.
