Waterjet Stag Do in Sofia
Waterjet
Every group has one lad who swears he's a natural on the water and another who once went pale on a pedalo. Put them both on a waterjet on a Bulgarian lake and the truth comes out before the first lap is done. One of them will be carving tight turns at full whack; the other will spend the whole ride clinging on with white knuckles.

What you'll do
- Learn the controls - Nobody gets let loose on a powerful machine until the instructors have covered throttle, steering and the safety drills.
- Open it up - Then you tear across the lake so fast that an ordinary boat trip will feel like the bus home.
- Race the clock - Timed courses and head-to-head challenges sort the natural talent from the lads who just talk a good game.
- Try some tricks - Sharp turns, jumps and flat-out speed runs, for anyone with real ability or zero regard for his own safety.
- Get it on film - Every blistering run gets recorded, and so does every crash, which shows exactly how steep the learning curve is.
What you'll need to bring
- Swimwear, plus clothes you don't mind getting drenched at speed
- The nerve to trust the throttle on a seriously powerful machine
- Decent balance and coordination that still work on water
- An adventurous streak, and an acceptance that fast water sports come with real thrills

Why waterjets work on a stag do
A waterjet session is proper high-performance water sport: speed, skill and a Bulgarian lake for a backdrop. It's an adrenaline hit most people never get round to on a normal weekend.
The instructors keep it safe while pushing you to go faster and turn sharper, so you learn to handle a powerful machine responsibly and still get real thrills, not a gentle cruise.
Bulgaria's lakes and rivers make good waterjet country, with varied conditions, scenery worth looking at and enough open water to build real speed without dodging other boats.
For a stag group, the mix is what works. Each lad gets his own skills test, the racing shows who has natural talent, and whoever's watching gets a cracking show.
The speed and raw power give the thrill-seekers a genuine rush, yet any sporty lad willing to listen to the instructors can pick it up.

Waterjet FAQs
Everything the group chat keeps asking, answered.
1. How fast does a waterjet go?
Quick. Modern machines hit 50–70+ mph and pick up speed in a hurry, so this is real high-performance kit, not a lazy paddle round the lake.
2. Do we need experience or a boating licence for waterjets?
No experience needed: the instructors teach you how to run the machine, the safety side and technique. Being able to swim and feeling at ease in water are essential, though, for safety's sake.
3. Is a waterjet harder to handle than motorsports on land?
It takes different skills. The water moves, balance matters and the steering reacts its own way, so quick reflexes and good coordination win out.
4. Is waterjet riding safe at high speed?
Everyone rides with professional safety kit under the eye of experienced instructors, with emergency comms and rescue cover ready, on controlled water set up for fast riding.
5. Can we race each other on waterjets?
Yes. You get individual coaching to build your skills, plus competitive race circuits that can become a tournament or a set of group challenges.
6. What happens if you fall off a waterjet?
Modern machines carry kill switches, flotation aids and other safety features. The instructors are trained in water rescue and watch every rider all session.
7. How long is a waterjet session?
Normally 2–3 hours, covering instruction, practice, racing and freestyle. That's enough time to improve without anyone getting so tired it turns into a safety issue.
8. Where do you ride waterjets near Sofia?
On Bulgarian lakes, which suit waterjets well: mountain scenery all round, a mix of water surfaces and plenty of room to go fast safely.
9. Do we get video of our waterjet session?
Yes. Professional waterproof cameras film the high-speed action, the races and how everyone improves, so you go home with the wins and the funniest mistakes on record.
